A GP surgery has temporarily closed to patients because of “extremely difficult circumstances” affecting its practice team.

Grimston Medical Centre, including its dispensary, announced the closure today and said it expects to remain shut for the rest of the day.

Patients who were due to attend appointments today are being contacted about alternative arrangements.

The surgery said patients can still call its usual number while it is closed.

Calls will be answered and triaged by another healthcare provider, which will help patients access appropriate care.

Anyone needing urgent medical help who cannot wait until the practice reopens has been advised to contact NHS 111 online or by calling 111.

Patients who urgently need medication can also request it through NHS 111 or access another pharmacy.

Anyone experiencing a life-threatening emergency should call 999.

The practice said: “We are sorry to let patients know that Grimston Medical Centre, including the dispensary, is temporarily closed due to extremely difficult circumstances affecting our practice team.”

It apologised for the disruption – the reason for which is not known at this time.

The surgery said it would provide a further update as soon as possible and asked patients to respect the privacy of its team at what it described as “a very difficult time”.
