Bristol Bears will celebrate our rich heritage in a unique occasion when Leicester Tigers visit Ashton Gate for a special Legends Night on Friday, October 30th (7.45pm KO).

As part of PREM’s 30th anniversary season celebrations, Bears will turn back the clock on Legends Night by wearing letters instead of numbers on the back of their shirts – a nod to one of the most distinctive traditions from the club’s history.

Supporters will also be able to personalise their own Bears shirts with the special letter printing FREE at the Bristol Sport Store.

The night will also see the launch of the Bristol Bears Hall of Fame, with the club’s inaugural inductees revealed, as well as the legacy page on the club website, listing every player that has represented the club since our inception and their personal number.

Legends Night will recognise Bristol greats from across the generations and celebrate the players, teams and moments that have shaped the club.

There will be a bucket collection for the Matt Salter Foundation, a commemorative matchday programme and supporters are encouraged to dig out their favourite retro Bristol shirts and wear them to Ashton Gate.

Legends Night will feature a bucket collection for the Matt Salter Foundation, in memory of our legendary former captain.

Bristol Bears Chief Executive, Tom Tainton, said: “We are so proud of our history and are grateful to all of the players, staff and supporters through the years that have helped to lay the foundations for the club we all enjoy today.

“Legends Night is about celebrating that history and the people who have shaped the rugby club, on and off the field. We’d like to thank PREM Rugby and Leicester Tigers for their encouragement, support and collaboration on what will be a truly unique matchday.”

Club Historian, Mark Hoskins, said: “Bristol has a wonderful rugby history stretching back more than 130 years, with generations of outstanding players, memorable teams and special moments that deserve to be celebrated.

“The use of letters on the players’ shirts is a particularly evocative part of that history and will immediately bring back memories for many Bristol supporters.

“The launch of the Bristol Bears Hall of Fame is another important step in preserving and celebrating that heritage, and I’m delighted that Legends Night will give supporters of all generations the chance to connect with the club’s past.”
