Stamford Tennis Club is celebrating a successful season after gaining three promotions.
The men’s A team, mixed A team and women’s C team all went up to the next level following a series of hard-fought matches throughout the summer in the Huntington and Peterborough Tennis League.
Club captain Karen Tattershall commented: “This has been a fantastic season for all the teams at Stamford Tennis Club.

“These three teams did particularly well and were a great example of the strength and depth of the club.
“Everyone competed enthusiastically throughout the season and produced some closely contested and enjoyable matches.
“The promotions are a great reflection of the commitment of our players and team captains.”
The men’s A team finished runners-up in Division Two, securing promotion to Division One.
Captained by Kevin Tassell, the team won five of its eight matches, drew two and lost just one.
The team has now only lost one match in the past two years.
New players this season included Harry Plumb, Will Reiley and James Tattershall, who joined the squad and made a strong contribution throughout.
The mixed A team also secured promotion to Division One after an impressive campaign in Division Two.
Captained by Emily John Davis, the squad combined experience and new talent to great effect, winning six of its eight matches, with just two defeats.
Adding to the club’s success, the women’s C team finished top of Division Four to win the title outright.
Captained by Maggie Knight, the team made good use of their new players, including Emily Rodriguez, Helen Beckingham and Lydia Stones.
Overall, the team recorded four wins and one draw from their five matches.
The club is looking forward to building on this success next season, when all three teams will take on the challenge of competing at a higher level.
