Paul Pogba hopes that he can add two Premier League titles to his collection when Manchester City’s battle with the division is over. The Frenchman was never able to get his hands on a winners’ medal during his time at Old Trafford as he twice finished as a runner-up.
City have been found guilty of breaching the Premier League’s financial rules on 114 occasions during the period from 2009 to 2018. While they have appealed an independent commission’s verdict, their rivals now await the punishment that is delivered.
While that can range from a fine to a points deduction or even expulsion, there has been speculation over what it could mean for City’s previous success.
Pogba finished as runner-up to City in 2017/2018 under the guidance of Jose Mourinho, and in 2020/2021, when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in charge of the club. Only the former would come under City’s offending period.

And Pogba, a free agent, would not say no to claiming a Premier League title after the fact. “I have nothing to say, to be honest,” he said in an interview at the Singapore Grand Prix.
“I just hope it doesn’t affect the Premier League and hopefully we can get two titles back.”
United finished 19 points City in 2018 as they won their first title under Pep Guardiola by racking up 100 points. Mourinho marks the second-place finish among his best achievements.
“If I tell you, for example, that I consider one of the best jobs of my career was to finish second with Man United in the Premier League, you will say, ‘this guy is crazy,'” Mourinho said. “‘He won 25 titles and he is saying that a second position was one of his best achievements?'”
“I keep saying this because people don’t know what is going on behind the scenes. And sometimes we, in this side of the cameras, analyse things with a different perspective.”

Current United boss Michael Carrick has revealed he has questions regarding Manchester City’s rule-breaking. Carrick played his final season at Old Trafford during 2017/18, although only featured in the league twice.

He did, however, see a title stolen away at the death in 2011 when Sergio Aguero’s famous strike left United devastated at the Stadium of Light. Pogba was still in his first spell with the club at that point but did not feature for the first team.
“It’s thrown up a lot of questions,” Carrick said. “Some had answers, some haven’t.
“Certainly, I’ve got my own questions about it. It’s affected me personally in different ways over a period of time.
“As it’s still not finalised, I think I’ll hold that one (whether titles should be reassigned) until later on.
“What I will say is that the sooner it gets sorted, for everyone’s benefit, is essential.
“It’s unprecedented, a unique situation to be in at this level, with such a huge impact in so many ways. We all need to know what’s going to happen.”
