Irish duo Leona Maguire and Leona Walsh both shot under-par rounds on day one of the Buick LPGA Shanghai.

Maguire, who has not made an individual cut since her eighth place finish in July’s ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open – a run of five straight missed weekends – shot an opening round of one-under-par 71 at the Sheshan Golf Club.

The Cavan golfer mixed three birdies with two bogeys on Thursday, to sit in a tie for 19th place.
