Janet Street-Porter, who lives on the Norfolk Broads near Great Yarmouth, said she fell in love with the county after moving there around eight years ago.

And now, she regularly spends her time exploring the coast, countryside and local food scene.

Among her favourite spots is Gorleston beach, where she frequently walks her dog before stopping for breakfast at Jay Jay’s café.

“I love Norfolk,” she said.

“I go to Gorleston to the beach with the dog and I like Jay Jays Café – it’s fantastic.”

The TV personality also singled out a number of other Norfolk businesses and attractions she enjoys visiting, including Clinks Care Farm in Toft Monks and the Farmhouse Kitchen and Pantry in Wheatacre.

“They are fabulous,” she said.

Janet said it was Norfolk’s peaceful setting that first attracted her to the county when she moved from Yorkshire in 2018.

“I chose Norfolk because I had never lived in Norfolk and I thought it was very beautiful,” she said.

“I was always looking for somewhere isolated and I thought Norfolk was perfect.”

She now lives in a remote riverside location and says the county provides the perfect contrast to her life in the capital.

“What I really love about Norfolk is when I go there it’s like another world,” she said.

Janet added: “The skies, the fact there is this amazing wildlife, it’s just fantastic.”

“I like the fact my only neighbours are cows.”

“What is not to love?”

She even tied the knot with Peter Spanton in an intimate ceremony at Great Yarmouth Register Office on January 31 before heading to the Gunton Arms for lunch.

Janet is currently touring the UK with Janet Street-Porter Is Still Off The Leash At 80!, her biggest solo tour to date ahead of her 80th birthday in December.

When asked how she would describe her tour in three words, she said: “Fearless, outspoken and filthy.”

“I talk about how I became me really,” she added.

“It is an opportunity to say what I really think about stuff that I cannot discuss on day time telly.”

She will perform at St George’s Theatre in Great Yarmouth on November 21 before appearing at The Cut in Halesworth on January 28.
