PL/26/07073/EIASR | Request for an EIA Screening Opinion under Regulation 6 of the Town and Country Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2017 (as amended) for proposed development of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and Associated Infrastructure. | Land West Of Mop End Lane Mop End Buckinghamshire

Voltis wants to install 320 battery containers on agricultural land west of Mop End Lane, within the green belt and Chilterns National Landscape.

The proposed facility would have an export capacity of up to 500 megawatts and an operational life of 45 years.

The site covers approximately 14.33 hectares, around 35 acres, with construction expected to take two years.

The developer has reduced the number of battery containers from 480 under an earlier version of the scheme.

Supporting infrastructure would include a substation compound, two transformers measuring 10.2 metres high, water storage tanks and acoustic fencing.

The council’s screening report records 37 representations, raising concerns including landscape harm, noise, fire safety, wildlife, construction traffic and potential water pollution.

Public rights of way intersect the site, while Shardeloes’ Grade II* registered park and garden lies approximately 55 metres away.

Officers described the proposal as a “substantial development” but concluded its low-level nature would result in localised impacts.

The council said potential environmental effects could be addressed through supporting reports and planning conditions, without requiring an Environmental Impact Statement.

The report, dated October 13, does not grant planning permission or determine whether the scheme is acceptable.

It says a separate battery storage proposal at Mop End Farm is being appealed after its refusal. If that appeal succeeds, its cumulative effects with the Voltis scheme would need to be assessed.

PL/26/06731/RM | Generator, cabinet, AMF panel and all ancillary development | Telecommunications Site Bencombe Farm The Ridgeway Marlow SL7 3LQ

Backup power equipment to help keep emergency services communications running during power cuts has been approved at a mobile phone mast near Marlow.

EE secured prior approval from Buckinghamshire Council for a diesel emergency generator and associated equipment at Bencombe Farm, off The Ridgeway.

The council’s report says the works are principally connected with the Emergency Services Network and would help maintain the installation’s operation during power failures, storm damage or vandalism.

The generator would provide power when an interruption outlasts the site’s existing battery backup capacity. It would not operate continuously.

The equipment would be installed within the existing fenced telecommunications compound, with the generator standing approximately 1.2 metres high.

The council granted prior approval for the development’s siting and appearance on October 14.
