Pleasington Golf Club hosted elite senior amateurs from around the country earlier this month for the inaugural Trevor Foster Memorial Trophy.
The tournament was organised to honour Trevor, who died in December 2024, and celebrate both his immense on-course talents and him as a person, much-loved in the Lancashire golfing community.
Trevor represented Lancashire, England and Europe Seniors from 2016, and won the 2018 Senior Amateur Men’s Championship and 2022 English Senior Men’s Championship.
He was also awarded the Silver Medal as top amateur at the 2021 Senior Open at Sunningdale.

The two-round tournament at Pleasington, held on October 1 and 2, saw a strong field gather, with Craig Cuthbert of Stand Golf Club, near Bury, emerging victorious with 69 Stableford points.
From next year the event will be part of the England Seniors Order of Merit, bringing elite seniors back to Pleasington to honour Trevor on an annual basis.
Mark Bleasdale, general manager at Pleasington Golf Club, said: “Trevor was a hugely respected figure in Lancashire and English amateur golf, and it is a privilege for Pleasington to host a tournament in his memory.
“Having represented Pleasington Golf Club at the highest level, his achievements and character left a lasting legacy, and it was fantastic to see such a strong field come together to celebrate his life.

“With the event joining the England Seniors Order of Merit from 2027, we look forward to seeing the trophy and Trevor’s legacy continue to grow.”
Trevor’s family chose mental health charity Mind to be supported by the event, with £900 raised during the two days.
He worked as a greenkeeper at Accrington Golf Club for more than 40 years, and played both there and at Pleasington.
Trevor, from Oswaldtwistle, died aged 64 on December 28, 2024, and is survived by his wife Debbie, two children Nikki and Ryan, and grandchildren.
