An outage at Google Cloud has led to a major services disruption across British giants on Tuesday.

Google Cloud confirmed it was facing “issues” in its “europe-west2 region,” which refers to London according to the firm’s service table. It has affected dozens of websites across the UK, spanning banks, delivery services and retail brands.

The digital banking giant said on Tuesday morning it was experiencing a “service disruption” across multiple features, as problems were also reported at Lloyds, HSBC and Barclays.

Google Cloud confirmed that several of its services were experiencing network failures at its London facility, which provides computing infrastructure to businesses across the UK.

“Multiple Google Cloud services are experiencing elevated errors and intermittent network failures in europe-west2 region,” Google said.

“Our engineering team continues to investigate the issue. We apologise to all who are affected by the disruption.”

The Downdetector, which is used to track major outages across consumer platforms, showed a spike for Revolut around 8am with more than 1,500 issues reported. It also showed spikes for Lloyds Bank, Rightmove, Royal Mail and HSBC.
