iPhone Duo is almost here, and our in-depth 9to5Mac review was published today. While that review offers plenty of insights into iPhone Duo’s cameras, if you want a professional photographer’s take, Tyler Stalman’s new video has you covered.

Here’s how iPhone Duo’s camera system compares to iPhone 18 Pro, per Tyler Stalman

One main drawback of the iPhone Duo compared to iPhone 18 Pro is its camera system.

Not only does the Duo lack a Telephoto lens, but its Main camera isn’t quite as good, and the Center Stage front camera is a step down too.

But many prospective iPhone Duo buyers might be wondering: exactly how noticeable are the differences between Duo and iPhone 18 Pro cameras?

Photographer Tyler Stalman published his video review today. Here’s what he says about the Main camera:

Most people are not going to spot the difference. They look very similar in most lighting conditions…Even in low light, the Pro is better, but I think it’s probably not going to jump out to most people.

Of course, it’s hard to judge whether “most people” will include you. For example, 9to5Mac’s review said the Duo’s camera is comparable to iPhone Air’s—which specs confirm. And personally, I’ve found iPhone 18 Pro’s Main camera a big improvement over the Air camera.

Moving beyond picture quality though, Stalman highlights how the camera experience with iPhone Duo has an edge. He explains how great it is that iPhone Duo’s two screens let you take 48MP selfies, and when you’re photographing others, they can see what you’re seeing.

Regarding the Ultra Wide lens, Stalman says that iPhone Duo seems to offer basically the same quality as iPhone 18 Pro.

The Center Stage Front Camera, however, is another area where iPhone Duo lags iPhone 18 Pro. It’s a 12MP camera, while iPhone 18 Pro and even last year’s 17 Pro use an 18MP lens.

Stalman says to expect selfie quality similar to pre-iPhone 17 models, but with the benefit of features like Center Stage and automatic framing so you can hold your iPhone in any orientation.

Again though, the iPhone Duo’s selfie camera isn’t as important as on iPhone 18 Pro, since you have the option of taking selfies with the Main camera. But it’s worth noting the differences anyways.
