Cork’s Sara Byrne leads the Irish challenge after Day 1 of the Hero Women’s Indian Open after posting an even par round in Gurugram.
On a tricky day for scoring, Byrne’s round of 72, which contained two birdies and two bogeys, was good enough to sit tied-15th after the opening round.
The 24-year old Douglas golfer sits five strokes adrift of the leader Chiara Tamburlini of Switzerland, who posted a round of 67.
Tamburlini heads the field by one shot from Shannon Tan of Singapore and Magdalena Simmermacheer of Argentina.
It was a tough day for the other Irish competitors, with Anna Foster carding 41 on the back nine en route to a four over par round of 76.
While Aine Donegan carded an eight over score of 80, in a round blighted by two double-bogeys and a triple.
