The Tower Digital Arts Centre, which reopened following a successful community buyout, is offering a full-time, paid role for someone to lead its next chapter.

The successful candidate will be responsible for balancing the practicalities of running the busy arts space on Sinclair Street with the vision to grow its reach and impact.

As previously reported, volunteers worked since January 2024 to secure funding for the purchase, with a significant portion coming through a grant from the Scottish Land Fund in April 2025.

In April this year, it was confirmed that the venue is now in community ownership after the tireless two-year effort from campaigners.

Two months later, the team welcomed hundreds of visitors – old and new – to their new open doors event.

Now, the board are looking ahead to a “new chapter” for the venue.

Brian Sayer, chairperson of the board, said: “The people of Helensburgh have worked tirelessly over the past three years to raise the funds, attention and support to ensure everyone has access again to this wonderful building and its range of film, culture and arts.

“We are now beginning the next phase of our operations, with an expanded programme of films and live shows – plus the opportunity to use parts of the venue as private hire spaces.

“To ensure the venue and the operations can be secured financially and sustainably, the board is looking for a general manager – someone who is enthusiastic, has a great vision of how special the Tower can be, and will fall in love with it the way our members, supporters and customers already have.”

The general manager will be tasked with supporting artists, audiences, and partners while maintaining the venue’s reputation as a cultural centre for the area.

The board is seeking someone with energy, vision, and a passion for the Tower’s potential.

Brian added: “Our board is committed to sharing their experience in business and finance to ensure the general manager is supported and empowered to succeed.

“We would love to hear from people in our community that would be up for the challenge of this exciting new role and who already knows what the Tower is, and more importantly what it can be – for the future generations of Helensburgh and beyond.”
