Samsung has already begun shipping the One UI 9 update to select Galaxy devices, starting with the Galaxy S26 in September, with more devices this month.

However, like with the previous major release, the rollout is staggered, and which devices are supported has been a guessing game since the start.

Even so, Samsung hasn’t provided the official list of Galaxy phones and tablets that will get the latest Android 17-based firmware.

If you’re wondering whether your device is eligible for One UI 9, Samsung has cleared up the haze, at least for select models.

And it’s a long list

Samsung Japan has published the official list of Galaxy phones and tablets sold in the country that will be upgraded to One UI 9, as 9to5Google spotted (via Android Headlines). It details the carriers and timing of the update, indicating when it will hit these devices.

It’s not a complete catalog, as many global variants are still missing, but it’s as extensive as you can get right now.

Even the mid-range Galaxy A56 and Galaxy A35 launched recently and aren’t on the list, possibly because they weren’t officially launched there.

The update will start shipping this month and continue through November and December. But some models like the Galaxy S23 FE are listed to receive the upgrade in January 2027.

More importantly, it confirms that some popular past models won’t get an Android 17 update, at least based on the shared table.

For instance, the Galaxy S22 series, including the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra, is not listed. The Galaxy S21 FE is also among the handsets that won’t receive Android 17.

This aligns with Samsung’s software policy for these products, which were pledged four generations of major OS upgrades.

However, they will still get regular security maintenance, but Samsung has switched to quarterly releases instead of monthly patches.

What’s actually new with One UI 9?

Meaningful tweaks over flashy redesigns

Based on Android 17, One UI 9 brings fixes, stability, refined visual adjustments, and new features.

Shortcuts on the quick panel now resize dynamically, and users can pin a Smart Finder tool directly to the home screen. There’s also an option to show network speed on the status bar, courtesy of Good Lock’s QuickStar module.

First introduced on Pixel, motion assist is expanding to Samsung hardware for the first time. Another practical addition is the Warranty and Care section, which lets you view your device’s warranty status and hardware diagnostics right in the settings.

Meanwhile, handsets supporting Galaxy AI will gain FanCam for automatic reframing and subject tracking during video recording, while Now Brief and Now Nudge also pick up welcome customization enhancements.

Overall, One UI 9 is timid on new features, but it emphasizes stability, which I have enjoyed on my Galaxy Z Flip 7 for a week now. Battery life has improved while performance is more stable than before.
