Harlequins have bolstered their front row options with a late summer move to sign Argentinian loosehead Boris Wenger, who will arrive in South West London following the Rugby Championship in early October.

Highly rated Wenger, 23, came off the bench in Argentina’s win over the Lions in Dublin in June, replacing Mayco Vivas, and has caught the eye with dominant performances in Super Rugby Americas with Dogos XV.

The former Under-20 international, who can also play hooker, saw his performances in Super Rugby Americas recognised with selection in the 2024 Team of the Season, marking a breakout campaign in his blossoming career.

Quins have been looking to add depth to their front row all summer, following the retirement of former England star Joe Marler last November, and have also brought in tighthead Harry Williams from Pau.

Wenger is set to provide competition for Fin Baxter and Jordan Els in Danny Wilson’s squad and will join fellow countrymen Rodrigo Isgro and Guido Petti, who is moving to the club from Bordeaux.

He says that he has already been given the lowdown on his new club and teammates from Isgro, who scored six tries in 13 appearances in his first campaign for Quins, and is excited to get started after the Rugby Championship.

“I’m looking forward to starting a new challenge and joining Harlequins. I have heard great things about the Club and its supporters from Rodrigo! I’m excited to meet my new teammates and give my all for the Club,” said Wenger.

Head coach Danny Wilson added: “Securing the signing of Boris is a major boost for us and our front row options heading into the new season.

“He’s a powerful, technically gifted loosehead who brings a real physicality to the contact area and set piece. We’re delighted to welcome him and confident he’ll make an impact here at Harlequins.”
