The Galaxy Z Flip 7 has been earning praise since its launch for being Samsung’s most polished clamshell yet, combining sleek design with meaningful upgrades. But the excitement has now been tempered by fresh controversy. One user’s brand-new device developed a dreaded green line across the display in just a week.
Galaxy Z Flip 7 develops a green line on the screen in a week
An X user recently posted a photo showing a Galaxy Z Flip 7 with a green line running across the display. The device allegedly developed the green line after just a week of use. While the affected device is still under warranty and should be eligible for replacement, the issue adds to a worrying trend. Only recently, reports surfaced of Galaxy Z Fold 7 units suffering display failures within days of purchase.
While we are sure these are isolated cases, and that the issues aren’t widespread. However, these incidents cast a shadow over Samsung’s ongoing efforts to prove the reliability of its foldables. The company claims that both the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7 are more durable than their predecessors.
The so-called “green line issue” isn’t new in the smartphone world, though. It has plagued AMOLED and OLED displays across brands, including iPhones, Pixels, and Galaxy devices. The problem typically stems from a hardware defect and requires a full display panel replacement rather than a software fix. Physical impact during hard falls or even errors during software updates can trigger this issue.
Samsung typically backs new Galaxy devices with at least a year of warranty, so this Galaxy Z Flip 7 owner should be eligible for a free screen replacement. Still, it’s hardly the kind of experience anyone expects just days after dropping over $1,000 on a brand-new phone. What should have been excitement turned into an unnecessary hassle for them.
In India, Samsung also offers free display replacements on select Galaxy models affected by green or pink lines. If your device qualifies, you may be entitled to a complimentary repair or replacement unit.
