Warrington Wolves travel to face Huddersfield Giants on Sunday afternoon with Sam Burgess’ side clinging to their faint play-off hopes.

Wire would have to win all of their five remaining games and likely hope for results involving Hull FC and Wakefield Trinity to go their way if they’re to make the play-offs, starting with this weekend,

They’ll take on a Huddersfield side that have already beaten them once this season whilst the Round One win for Warrington was far from convincing either.

The Giants had been picking up some form of late, winning four from seven before being hammered last week by St Helens so Luke Robinson will be eager for his side to bounce back.

Both head coaches have now confirmed their 21-man squads for the match on Sunday afternoon at the Accu Stadium in Huddersfield.

Huddersfield Giants team news

The Giants saw Taane Milne handed a one-match ban after his act of dissent last week so the centre drops out of the squad as one of a number of changes.

Elliot Wallis also drops out alongside the injured Matt Frawley whilst there is also a change among the youngsters named by Luke Robinson with Marshall Land and Logan Blacker called into the 21-man squad.

The biggest addition is former Huddersfield man Oliver Russell who has been loaned in from Wakefield Trinity in place of Matt Frawley, whilst Aidan McGowan has been recalled from his loan spell with Batley meaning there could be a very new-look spine.

Huddersfield have also confirmed that Leeds Rhinos’ loanee Matt Frawley is out for the remainder of the season having left the field at half-time.

Huddersfield Giants 21-man squad: Jacob Gagai, Jake Bibby, Sam Halsall, Oliver Wilson, Zac Woolford, Thomas Burgess, Harry Rushton, Ashton Golding, Matty English, George King, Joe Greenwood, Fenton Rogers, Leroy Cudjoe, Tristan Powell, Aidan McGowan, Kieran Rush, George Flanagan, Archie Sykes, Oliver Russell, Marshall Land, Logan Blacker

Warrington Wolves team news

All eyes were on Warrington’s squad and whether any of Toby King, Matt Dufty and Paul Vaughan would be named. Vaughan missed out last week with what Sam Burgess described as a niggle, however, both Dufty and King were dropped and played in the reserves.

It marked the second consecutive week that Dufty had been left out so attention was on whether he made the squad. The full-back is in alongside Toby King, however, Paul Vaughan misses out due to a groin injury.

Zack Gardner also drops out with his hamstring injury confirmed to be a season-ender but there is a boost in that James Harrison returns to the squad.

Warrington Wolves 21-man squad: Ben Currie, Matt Dufty, Lachlan Fitzgibbon, James Harrison, Leon Hayes, Adam Holroyd, Toby King, Ryan Matterson, Joe Philbin, Sam Powell, Stefan Ratchford, Ewan Smith, Marc Sneyd, Sam Stone, Jake Thewlis, Josh Thewlis, Luke Thomas, Danny Walker, George Williams, Connor Wrench, Luke Yates
