Charles Leclerc’s older brother, Lorenzo Leclerc, has shared a behind-the-scenes look at his time behind the wheel of the 2019 Ferrari Formula 1 car, the SF90.

The 36-year-old thanked his younger brothers, Charles and Arthur, for setting up the opportunity at Circuit Paul Ricard, which hosted the French Grand Prix between 1971 and 1990 and again in 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022.

“Did not expect to start this week driving an F1! Thanks to these two Charles Leclerc & Arthur Leclerc,” the eldest Leclerc brother wrote on Instagram. “Amazing feeling and unforgettable experience surrounded by the best.”

All three Leclerc brothers found a passion for racing at a young age, but due to the expense that comes along with a career in motorsport, their parents had to decide to prioritise one of them.

Charles previously spoke about the sacrifices his brothers made for him when he and Arthur shared the track during the first practice session for the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

“It’s very special because I also know the whole background of how did he get there, how did we get there,” the Ferrari F1 driver explained at the time.

“Obviously our parents have done a lot of sacrifices for both of us to pursue our dream.

“He had to stop that dream for three or four years because my father couldn’t withstand the investment that was required for him to continue. I was the only one to continue in the family. My younger brother wanted to do just the same as me and he restarted a few years later when I was supported by my manager Nicolas Todt.

“And I have seen how hurt my father was when he had to say to Arthur that he had to stop racing because we didn’t have the finance behind it. To know that tomorrow he will be in FP1 with me will be a very special moment – not only for both of us but I think for the whole family.

“For my mum, she will be travelling here tomorrow to see the FP1 so it will be a very emotional moment, but I’m looking forward to it. He deserves it and I’m really happy for him.”
