A competitive renewal of the Nunthorpe with just 4lb separating the top seven in the ratings and while there is no standout sprinter we do look set for a good race. Asfoora tops the ratings with Rumstar, Frost At Dawn, Jm Jungle, Arizona Blaze and Mgheera just in behind. Smart juvenile Lady Iman tops the market but she has a bit to do on ratings even when the weight-for-age is taken into account.

Fran Berry Insight

In a year with no outstanding sprinter the Nunthorpe has ended up an open race with a lot of angles to go at.

It’s great to see the juvenile Lady Iman in here who bids to follow up her Goodwood success under Joe Fanning off a really light weight and she’s a very fast filly with a great mindset.

She proved she has the mentality to come back from defeat and win and she perhaps idled in front at Goodwood, but I was taken by how she travelled through the race.

Stall number four looks a good spot for her and she heads a strong Irish challenge which you wouldn’t often say in the sprints over the last few years.

She’s Quality has run to a very high level in all of her starts this year and has been second many times, but there’s nothing wrong with her attitude.

For me, though, ARIZONA BLAZE is the bet in the race for Adrian Murray. He got beat in the sales race here last year over six furlongs when he was a short-priced favourite and he probably should’ve won that day but he’s improved enormously since then.

This season he has been running really well, finishing second in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot, but he showed he has the pace for five when winning the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes at the Curragh last time in emphatic fashion.

Stall nine looks fine for him and he can be a rare Irish winner of the Nunthorpe in what looks a competitive renewal.

Timeform Pace Map

Pace Forecast: Extreme

Draw Bias: Favours Low

Specific Pace Hint: The likelihood that there is unlikely to be any let up in a very strong pace will probably benefit FROST AT DAWN rather than MGHEERA.

Individual Price Hint: SHE’S QUALITY was beaten last time out when trading at a quarter or less of her starting Betfair SP.
