London Broncos have announced the dual-reg signing of a Warrington Wolves forward as they look to bring in reinforcements for this weekend’s clash with promotion-chasing Oldham.
The Broncos have once again recruited from Sam Burgess’ side, after already having prop Dan Okoro in their side for the remainder of the year. Tom Whitehead, Zac Bardsley-Rowe and Alfie Johnson are some of the many Wire youngsters to make the move down south already this season.
Now, they have brought in another young and ambitious forward, in the shape of 21-year old Max Wood.
Wood made his Super League debut in round two of 2024, and has gone on to make 24 appearances for the club, with 11 of those outings coming this season. Moves to Midlands Hurricanes, Widnes Vikings and Bradford Bulls have all helped him gain experience in his career so far, and he will now look to continue his development in the capital as he links up with Mike Eccles’ side for this weekend’s fixture.
Warrington Wolves man makes short-term Championship move
In a statement confirming his arrival, the Broncos said:
“London Broncos can confirm that Max Wood will join up with the squad for this weekend’s fixture from Warrington Wolves.
“The 21-year-old prop joined Warrington on a one-year deal after being released by Wigan at the end of the 2023 season.
“He began pre-season training for the 2024 campaign with Warrington’s first team and impressed coach Sam Burgess so much that he was offered a one-year deal with a one-year option in the club’s favour.
“In 2025 he has played 11 times for Warrington and also 6 times for fellow dual registration club Widnes Vikings.”
The Broncos take on Oldham at home this weekend, before facing Batley Bulldogs, Bradford and a final day clash against Widnes.
London will be hoping to be competitive in the final four games, as they look to build for 2026 after a difficult campaign.
