Top championship horses were flown into Teesside Airport for one of the region’s biggest racing weekends.
Six thoroughbreds arrived last Wednesday with another two horses on Thursday to compete in the York Races Ebor Festival 2025.

Phil Forster, managing director of Teesside International Airport, said: “The strength of our cargo facility is its ability to handle all sorts of orders, consignments and requests at short notice – and it’s been great to welcome these brilliant horses through our airport.

“We’re building our reputation in cargo – the airport has onward road and rail connections to envy, and our strengths really do mean our hub is an invaluable option for 70,000 businesses within an hour of our runway.
“I’d urge firms to consider us and get in touch.”

Minnie Hauk and Garden of Eden were the equine athletes arriving and departing on Thursday, with Minnie Hauk returning as the winner of its race.
According to the airport, it’s cargo operation, which serves as a Border Control Point, can offload, process, and dispatch freight within 30 minutes of an aircraft touching down.
The airport says its location in the centre of North East, and Great Britain, makes it “ideally placed” for manufacturers and businesses.
This year has already been a record-breaker for Teesside’s cargo services, with 2025 projected to surpass last year’s freight volumes by more than 200 per cent.
