Celtic’s need to strengthen the attacking front-line is pressing this summer.
Johnny Kenny is the only striker to have opened up their account for Celtic this summer as Adam Idah and Shin Yamada continue to draw blanks.
The young Irishman scored a lovely goal in Celtic’s win over Livingston but there is still no denying that Brendan Rodgers must bring in another striker.
The failure to replace Celtic hero Kyogo Furuhashi has been hanging around the club since January, but it appears Celtic are looking to put that right with a ‘late move’ for a Ligue 1 striker.

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has told how Celtic are looking towards the French top-flight in their pursuit of a new striker.
Taking to X, O’Rourke said, “Celtic are considering a late move for Lorient forward Sambou Soumano as they look to add to their attacking options.
“Soumano scored for Lorient v Rennes on Sunday.”
Soumano scored his first goal of the season at the weekend as he looks to better the 14 he scored in 34 appearances for Lorient last season.
However, there could be a problem in Celtic’s pursuit of the striker.
Ruddy Galetti says Celtic-linked Sambou Soumano is wanted by Widzew Lodz
Rudy Galetti has been keeping tabs on Soumano’s transfer situation this summer and it appears that Polish outfit Widzew Lodz are really close to sealing a deal for the Senegalese forward.
Galetti said on X on the 24th of August, “More on Widzew Lodz-Soumano: two bids were already rejected by Lorient, but the Polish side is ready for a new, 3rd attempt to get closer to the asking price for the striker – on target vs Rennes today.
“Next contacts between clubs are expected to be decisive for the deal.”

This was a follow-up on reports that the Lorient man had already agreed terms with the Polish outfit.
So if Celtic are planning to make a late move for Soumano, they had better get a move on.
