Kim Kardashian is the subject of backlash on social media after 12-year-old daughter North West was spotted wearing a corset. Images of the mother-daughter duo enjoying time in Rome spread across the internet, where many users asserted that the outfit was inappropriate.
A TikTok from North’s joint account with Kim gives a full picture of the edgy get up. Set to Destroy Lonely’s “If Looks Could Kill,” the preteen flaunts her bright blue ponytails, black corset, black boots, and puffy mini skirt. Kim Kardashian opted to wear a black slip dress with an exposed lace bralette. Also pictured in the clip were stylist Dani Levi and nail artist Coca Michelle.
While comments are restricted on the TikTok account, platforms such as X sparked a debate on what North West should and should not be wearing.
“A 12 year old in a corset and push up bra & her mom is cool with it all,” detailed one user on X. “this is EXACTLY why u have to be careful who u have babies with.”
“Her mom is infamous for a sex tape and her dad forbids her step mom to be clothed in public of course she’s 12 in a push up bra,” added another.
“I’m sorry but 12y/o wearing a push-up corset is crazy no matter what excuses y’all give,” shared a different account.
Despite some heavy-handed critiques, some of the responses were on Kim and North’s side.
“North dresses like a 12 year old,” exclaimed an X user. “people say she looks older because she’s taller and developed yawn.”
“They saying North looks “grown” but maybe im blind because im not seeing that,’ elaborated another user. “if anything she looks like she’s suppose to be on monster high.”
“It’s actually so crazy to see how people view things. i opened this picture & my only reaction was gahdamn she is so tall. i look at the comments & people analyzing everything she got on,” added a third.
The Skims founder is also the mother to Psalm, 6, Chicago, 7, and Saint 9, all of whom she shares with her ex-husband Ye, formerly known as Kanye West. Earlier this year, the rapper slammed Kim’s sister Khloe Kardashian for reposting “So Grown Up” photos of North West.
“It’s difficult when you know your children are being indoctrinated and used,” exclaimed the Grammy winner.
“People know why I went crazy. Now I’m in a place where I have to dissociate or go to jail. And I bet not one Kamala supporting pro Black celebrity say anything on me or my kids behalf. If a group of prominent black stars stood up I could save my kids from all this. Yall watch these white and white passing women run use indoctrinate and traffic these black kids and tell me ‘this is what I signed up for.’”
