Bhutan is set to make its debut appearance in the ABU TV Song Festival at the event in Mongolia next month.

BBS has confirmed its participation in the ABU TV Song Festival 2025, which will be held on September 12 at the ASA Arena in Ulaanbaatar. The ABU TV Song Festival was held for the first time in 2012 and is a non-competitive showcase from across the Asia-Pacific region. Each participating broadcaster chooses acts to showcase their nation, with a mix of genres and languages to feature in tonight’s show.

The Bhutanese representative will be represented by the artist who finishes in second place in Druk Dra, the Bhutanese selection for the Eurovision Song Contest Asia. This will be the first time that Bhutan has participated in the ABU TV Song Festival.

Bhutan previously participated in the ABU Radio Song Festival in 2012, when the show was a competitive event. Two entries were submitted from Bhutan, one from BBS and another from Centennial Radio. The entries were:

2012 – Dechen Wangmo – “Black as Snow
2012 – Sonam Tshewang – “Nga Num Che” – Did not qualify

Five countries that are expected to participate in the ABU TV Song Festival 2025 are:

🇻🇳 Vietnam – VTV
