A horse died after colliding with spectators during a race – injuring two who needed hospital treatment.

It happened at Cartmel Racecourse, in Cumbria, during its third Bank Holiday race on Monday.

The racecourse said the animal went into the group of racegoers after it suffered a “sudden heart-related condition”.

The horse named Wbee received veterinary attention but did not recover, the racecourse confirmed.
