Peter Andre laughed off a mispronunciation after appearing on This Morning to discuss his latest role.

Peter has taken on the role of George, a forensic pathologist in The Sunshine Murders when it airs on Channel 5 and the streaming service Paramount+ in early September.

It follows New Zealand farmer Shirley Rangi (Emily Corcoran) as she travels to Athens, Greece, in order to meet her half-sister and detective, Helen Moustakas (Dora Chrysikou), as she hunts for her missing dad. Shirley will help Helen to solve crimes whilst they continue their mission to find their absent parent.

During Wednesday’s (August 27) installment of This Morning, Peter sat down with presenters Rylan Clark and Peter Andre to chat about his latest small-screen endeavour.

He shared: “When I first saw the script I was blown away, it’s the kind of thing I want to watch… Initially, I was asked to audition for one episode.

“While I did it (self-tape) I thought why don’t I try put the Greek accent on and see if they like it… I didn’t hear back straight away and I thought they didn’t like that.”

Peter then revealed that they enjoyed the Greek accent, as he added: “They decided to write me in as a main character and appear in the whole series”.

As he went onto talk more about his character, he shared a joke from the show where Shirley tries to teach his character some English slang as he only speaks Greek.

After sharing that she tries to teach George how to say “sweet as”, Peter made the joke that his character goes, “you have a sweet ***?”

Rylan was quick to interject and said Peter meant “sweet as” instead of the more explicit alternative. Peter added: “Sorry! Probably should have thought of that!” as the three of them laughed on the sofa together.

The last time Peter appeared on This Morning, he defended his “controversial” role in movie Jafaican. At the time he said: “I think what I found strange is that we took a process of nearly three years from starting this to finishing, and we sat with legends like Oliver Samuels doing the read over, doing the script, and actually filming it.

“When we went to the Judgement Yard, where Sizzla Kalonji reggae icon lives, and we’re invited into there to do this film, the whole process.

“If there was any point where any one of them said to us, ‘this is not right, we shouldn’t do it’, we would have stopped.

“That’s why we were a bit shocked because we had all the approval from everyone all the way along.”
