Splashing around in the warmish water and making sand castles was a real treat and making use of the beach hut was an added bonus so what could possibly spoil the day ?
In a word cyclists.

What is the point in having by-laws which prohibit cycling on the promenade between July 1st and August 31st if they are continually ignored and unenforced.
I am not sure who is responsible for enforcement either the beach wardens or the police but sadly far too many people chose to ignore both the restriction to cycle between 10am and 6pm and this creates a danger particularly to my grand children aged two and four who have to take extra care to avoid being hit by a bike.
For what it is worth I do ask cyclists not to ride which in most cases results in me receiving verbal abuse which cannot be printed in this family newspaper.
There is also a speed limit which seems to be ignored and the worse case over the weekend was a man wearing a balaclava riding a powerful looking electric bike at well in excess of 30mph just managing to not take out pedestrians.
This generated much reaction from walkers and could have caused major problems.
What then is the purpose of these by laws if they are just ignored or non enforced.
