Barry Cleminson has joined the global real estate consultancy’s Manchester office, where he will help grow its division focussed on assisting in the delivery and optimisation of medical facilities.

Turner & Townsend delivered hospital projects worth more than £10bn over the past decade, including the Edinburgh Institute of Genetics and Cancer. The company is, alongside Mace, the programme delivery partner for the UK government’s New Hospital Programme.

The North West Turner & Townsend team has worked on acute care hospitals, community health centres, mental health facilities, and more. The firm prides itself on delivering patient-centric design and operational efficiency.

Cleminson said he was “thrilled” to have joined the consultancy. He began his role as the North West healthcare lead at Turner & Townsend, as well as a project management director, in July.

“It has been a strong start with the company, and I am excited about the opportunities ahead with such a talented and committed team,” he said.

Prior to joining Turner & Townsend, Cleminson had worked at DAY Project Management. Also on his resume: experience working at Healthcare Support & Infrastructure Services, Red Rose Corporate Services, and Frank Whittle Partnership.

“Having worked in the construction industry for more than 25 years, my career has taken me from an architectural technician role, in the early days, through to my current position as director and North West Healthcare Lead at one of the world’s leading consultancies,” Cleminson said

“Over the years, I have successfully delivered healthcare projects across acute, primary, mental health, community health, assisted living, blue-light emergency services, and the private sector,” Cleminson continued.

“I look forward to building on this experience and delivering further value with Turner & Townsend.”

Robert Paterson, director of real estate project management at Turner & Townsend, highlighted Cleminson’s expertise in the sector.

“Barry brings a wealth of experience and a strategic mindset that aligns perfectly with our ambitions in the healthcare sector,” Paterson said.

“His leadership will be instrumental as we continue to deliver complex programmes, like the New Hospital Programme, and expand our footprint across the North West,” he continued.

“Barry’s ability to navigate both the technical and human aspects of project delivery makes him an exceptional addition to our team and a key figure in our long-term vision for healthcare transformation.”

Cleminson joins a staff of more than 500 at Turner & Townsend’s Manchester office at 11 York Street. Turner & Townsend offers services in cost management, project management, sustainability, procurement, asset management and more. The firm boasts more than 22,000 staff across the world, with 15 UK offices including Leeds, Sheffield, Newcastle, and Teesside.
