Rugby league fans have been left furious after disrupted coverage of Friday night’s Super League games, including Hull KR versus St Helens.
Super League leaders Hull KR host in-form St Helens at Craven Park with the scores 2-2 at half-time, however, most fans missed the home side’s two points as the TV coverage on Sky Sports stopped just as Rhyse Martin was about to take the kick.
With Hull KR versus St Helens being broadcast on Sky Sports+ Main Channel and Sky Sports Action, some viewers saw the game cut just before Martin took his penalty as the coverage switched to Warrington Wolves versus Salford Red Devils.
That marked the first moment of the night that any fan had been able to watch Warrington and Salford with that fixture, scheduled for Sky Sports+ Red Button, suffering technical difficulties for the first 30 minutes.
Those technical difficulties were addressed by the commentator of Hull KR and St Helens, Dave Woods, as he apologised and confirmed that the game was now available to watch. It just so happened that Woods was then cut off as the feeds swapped channels.
Rugby League fans confused after Sky Sports coverage blunder
Fans have since been able to get back to their respective games with Hull KR versus St Helens available on Sky Sports Action, whilst Warrington versus Salford can be viewed on Sky Sports+ Main Channel.
Confusion aside, it’s left several rugby league fans frustrated with a number responding to Serious About Rugby League’s half-time update.
Asked to sum that first half up, a number of fans didn’t even speak on the game but on the broadcast situation instead.
Angela Jane Rudd asked: Where has the game gone? How come I’m watching Salford now?
Michael Edwards: Watching HKR on Sky and it changed over to Salford and Warrington game.
Kevin Clark: WTF is going on with Sky? HKR penalty about to be taken, next thing I’m watching Warrington v Salford. Get your act together Sky!!!
Those on X, formerly Twitter, also noted the issues with @Frosty1984 sharing an image of the error screen for the Warrington and Salford game.
Hull KR and St Helens resume the second half with the scores level whilst Salford surprisingly lead Warrington 12-6 at the half.
Hi @SkyUK @SkyHelpTeam. Why am I getting this on my SkySports+ for Warrington Vs @SalfordDevils? Do you not think Salford fans have endured enough torture this season as it is without you stopping us watching us get a pasting off Wire? 😭😭😭 pic.twitter.com/gTexHHBd0r
