Catalans Dragons

Rumours Oliver Partington could be set to make the move to St Helens have been nipped in the bud by the French press.

The Catalans Dragons man was linked with a move to the Totally Wicked Stadium recently, despite the forward being under contract for next season with Joel Tomkins side. The rumour certainly came as a surprise, particularly given he has been one of the most valuable performers in the Catalans fold this season.

However, the notion of Catalans letting him leave has been dismissed by Perpignan news outlet L’Independant, who claim that the Dragons have not been approached by Saints to take the forward for 2026. In fact, the newspaper goes as far as to say that Partington is enjoying himself in the south of France and is likely to extend his contract with the club.

Partington joined the Dragons from Salford Red Devils ahead of the campaign and has made 27 appearances in all competitions. He would undoubtedly be an asset for St Helens, who have been linked with a move for Gold Coast Titans’ Reagan Campbell-Gillard this weekend, but the Dragons rate Partington highly, too.

The report has also dismissed suggestions Catalans have been interested bringing South Sydney Rabbitohs’ Lewis Dodd back to Super League. Dodd has been told he can leave Souths and Catalans have been mentioned as one potential destination for the half-back.

Penrith Panthers’ Soni Luke has also been linked as he comes to the end of his contract. L’Independant claim that Catalans are not looking at the Tonga international, though, and their interest has cooled in Jack Cole, too.

Catalans announced earlier this week that 13 players would be leaving the club at the end of the season including the likes of Tariq Sims, Fouad Yaha, Reimis Smith and Elliott Whitehead, with the latter pair retiring from the game.

And, as they prepare for the start of a new era under Tomkins, they have announced a raft of new signings with Charlie Staines being the latest from Wests Tigers. Harvey Wilson, Zac Lipowicz, Iszac Fa’asuamaleaui, Solomona Faataape, Josh Allen, Toby Sexton and Ugo Tison will be joining.
