The growth pace was the most rapid in 2022 with an increase of 47%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $279M in 2023, and then dropped sharply in the following year.

In 2024, China (579K units) constituted the largest supplier of refrigerator compressor to the UK, with a 38% share of total imports. Moreover, refrigerator compressor imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Poland (194K units), threefold. Japan (159K units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 10% share.

From 2013 to 2024, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China amounted to +3.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (+11.3% per year) and Japan (+0.1% per year).

The United Arab Emirates (86K units) was the main destination for refrigerator compressor exports from the UK, accounting for a 28% share of total exports. Moreover, refrigerator compressor exports to the United Arab Emirates exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Poland (43K units), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by the United States (35K units), with an 11% share.

From 2013 to 2024, the average annual growth rate of volume to the United Arab Emirates stood at +67.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+16.8% per year) and the United States (+25.3% per year).

In value terms, the largest markets for refrigerator compressor exported from the UK were the United States ($19M), the United Arab Emirates ($16M) and Germany ($4.3M), with a combined 31% share of total exports.

Among the main countries of destination, the United Arab Emirates, with a CAGR of +52.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average refrigerator compressor export price stood at $409 per unit in 2024, surging by 86% against the previous year. Overall, the export price posted a notable expansion. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2024, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($553 per unit), while the average price for exports to Italy ($36 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
