Super League

Round 24 of Super League is in the books and we’re a little closer to knowing what the final league table will look like.

Hull KR remain four points clear at the top of the division with just three more games remaining and they now look all but certain to claim the League Leaders’ Shield. The Robins edged out St Helens on Friday night, winning 12-8 after a tense and defence-orientated clash at Craven Park.

Wigan Warriors responded by beating Catalans Dragons 40-4 to keep up the pressure on KR at the top. And, Leeds Rhinos now sit in third outright after blowing Hull FC away at the MKM Stadium.

Leeds dominated the Black and Whites and scored six unanswered tries to win 34-0 and set up what looks set to be a tense battle for second spot.

Leigh Leopards are a point further back after sweeping aside Castleford Tigers 46-6 with relative ease on Thursday, while St Helens are now fifth after their loss in east Hull.

Wakefield Trinity thumped Huddersfield Giants 48-2 at Belle Vue and that was enough for them to leapfrog Hull FC, move into the play-off places and put themselves in the driving seat with three games to go.

Elsewhere, Salford Red Devils picked up their third win of the season to pile the pressure on Warrington Wolves boss Sam Burgess, who has overseen a bitterly disappointing campaign at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Super League round 24 attendances

Hull KR recorded the biggest crowd of the round as 12,169 people piled into Craven Park to watch their clash with St Helens. With the help of added seating in the East and South Stands in east Hull, the Robins’ attendance was the biggest they have recorded since 1984.

The records keep COMING 🤩📈

Given Rovers only moved from the old Craven Park into their current home in 1989, that’s a stadium record. Across the city, Hull FC welcomed 12,020 to the MKM Stadium for their clash with Leeds, with a healthy following travelling from West Yorkshire.

More than 10,000 attended Catalans’ final home game of the Super League season against Wigan Warriors, while Leigh Leopards’ official attendance was 8,330 against Castleford Tigers.

Wakefield will have been happy to record an attendance of 7,112 against Huddersfield, while Warrington haven’t released their crowd figures after Friday night’s embarrassing defeat.
