Jon Wills was walking along the seafront in Felixstowe when he saw the pup on the beach near the Spa Pavilion theatre on Sunday morning.

Volunteers for the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) attended the scene after receiving reports of the sighting from members of the public.

The BDMLR was formed in 1988 when a group of divers joined in response to a mass mortality of common seals in the Wash area of East Anglia.

The seal pup in Felixstowe was assessed and determined to be very underweight.

It was also suspected the baby marine animal had mouth rot.

Around the UK, the pupping season happens between late August and early January but can vary depending on the region.
