Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: The Nifty 50 reclaimed the 24,600 mark, ending 198 points higher at 24,625, while the Sensex rose 555 points to close at 80,364. Market breadth turned decisively positive, driven by a sharp rally in midcaps, with the Nifty Midcap index surging 1,098 points, or 2 percent, to 56,826. The Nifty Bank too gained 347 points to finish at 54,002.
Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: Sensex, Nifty 50 began the week on a strong footing as domestic flows lifted equities in the absence of global cues, with US markets shut today.
Out of the 50 Nifty constituents, 42 ended in the green. Autos and IT stocks led the rally, with the Nifty Auto index jumping 3% as August sales across companies beat street estimates. Bajaj Auto, Hero MotoCorp, Tata Motors, and Eicher Motors were among the top five gainers on the index. IT counters also moved higher after a positive brokerage note, with Mphasis emerging as the standout performer.
Beyond the benchmark indices, Ola Electric and Ather Energy extended their winning run on improved month-on-month registration numbers in August. Capital market-linked stocks also saw strong buying, rallying 3–5% through the day. Gold financing companies gained in line with a rise in global bullion prices, with Manappuram Finance climbing 5%. EMS-focused stocks such as Dixon Technologies, Amber Enterprises, and Kaynes Technology were also in demand, advancing up to 5%.
