Macaque from Highland Wildlife Park undergoes CT scan after suffering from frequent nosebleeds

A Japanese macaque from the Highland Wildlife Park has undergone a CT scan after suffering from frequent nosebleeds.

The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) said eight-year-old Ishin underwent the scan in a bid to understand his condition.

The wildlife conservation charity worked with Burgess Diagnostics, who provided a portable CT scanner.

The Highland Wildlife Park is home to a large number of Japanese macaques, which normally live in large groups with a strict hierarchy.

Results from the scan are being analysed by the veterinary team to determine the next steps.
