Rufus Wainwright looked unrecognisable in a new selfie with short grey hair and a bushy beard, 17 years after his Brit Awards nomination.
The Canadian-American singer, 51, looked worlds away from his pop star looks in the Instagram snap – although he never stopped performing throughout the years.
The songwriter shot to fame after the release of his self-titled album in 1998 and has since then recorded eleven studio albums.
The composer also released several tracks on compilation as well as film soundtracks, with a successful career spanning over three decades.
Rufus – who has been married to German Arts Administrato Jörn Weisbrodt since 2012 – also written two classical operas and set Shakespeare’s sonnets to music for a theatre piece by Robert Wilson.
Although the music star is well-remembered for bangers as I Don’t Know What It Is and his famous cover of Hallelujah.

Rufus comes from a folk-orientated family, son of singers Loudon Wainwright III and the late Kate McGarrigle, and is no surprise he enjoyed a Brit nomination in 2008.
Speaking about his aspiring achievements to The Sun in 2020, he said: ‘I would like a Grammy at some point, mainly because my dad got one and I’d like it to happen while he’s still alive so we can put that to rest. A Grammy would be nice.
‘I want to make a ton of money, but I do feel for the work that I put into my career . . . It would be nice not to have to work so hard as I do because it’s a diminishing game.
‘Hard work and the travel was easy in my 20s and 30s, but now it’s harder.
‘So, I just have to figure out a way to do that.’
In November of the previous year, the Across The Universe crooner said his daughter like Taylor’s music, but he didn’t really get her.
Rufus told Kyle Meredith for a live taping of Kyle Meredith With… at the time that he was on the fence on T-Swift.

But at the Grammys bash, the Red hitmaker appeared to have forgiven the bitter past, as they posed together for a beaming selfie.
Her name came up when he said the music industry was ‘vapid and predictable.’
Rufus said he did not understand Taylor or why his daughter was such a big fan of her music.
‘My daughter is really into Taylor Swift right now so I’ve really been going through the education of that,’ he said.
‘It’s fascinating. I wanna remain open-minded and I think it’s very impressive what she does, and there’s a lot of stuff I could never even dream of accomplishing.
‘On the way to school it’s a constant thing and there’s certain songs I like more than others… It hasn’t happened for me yet with Taylor, but I’m not saying it won’t.’
