Five of the stages are in England and one is in Wales. There are no stages in Scotland. The closest it gets to Scotland is about 200 miles away!

Therefore, the question arises: is it proper that the event is still called The Tour of Britain?

Let me put it another way. If there were no stages held in England, would it still be called the Tour of Britain? Google says no. Those reading this might want to ask why the two countries are treated differently.

Is this another example of the “union of equals” with Scotland leading the way?
