The HMV website was in danger of crashing on Wednesday when wristbands went on sale for a record signing in Newcastle

The centre of Newcastle will be besieged by music fans next week, when a global pop icon arrives in town for an album signing. And the demand to be there has already been so high that the HMV website was in danger of crashing on Wednesday morning.
Signings are a regular occurrence at the branch of HMV in Eldon Square, in the heart of Newcastle city centre, with James Arthur fans lining up in large numbers a few months ago as the North East born singer signed copies of his latest album and, in the past few years, signings by the likes of Olly Murs, Busted and late One Direction star Liam Payne, who tragically died last year, have also brought big queues to the shopping mall.
And now it’s another former X Factor star who has got fans whipped up into a suitable frenzy. On Tuesday it was announced that JADE would be coming to HMV Newcastle on Friday, September 12, to meet fans and sign copies of her debut album That’s Showbiz Baby, on the day that it’s released.
Newcastle will be her first stop on a tour of different HMVs around the country to mark the launch which is easily the most highly anticipated pop record of 2025. The album already has a number of big hits to its name, most notably JADE’s debut single, Angel of My Dreams, which she gave a triumphant performance of at this year’s Brit Awards, having just won the Best Pop accolade.

Other singles since then have included IT Girl, FUFN and Plastic Box, all of which are also on That’s Showbiz Baby and, as they tried to pre-order a copy and get a wristband for Newcastle and other HMV signings, fans were made to wait in online queues for more than an hour on the HMV website on Wednesday, with many left empty handed by the time the clock ticked all the way down.
HMV isn’t the only place in Newcastle that JADE is doing a signing next week, she will also be at Reflex to meet fans at midnight, to sign copies the second That’s Showbiz Baby comes out. After that special event was confirmed on Tuesday night, all wristbands had been snapped up within five minutes of them being made available on Wednesday.
After her big win at the BRITs, JADE has had quite a summer; packing out a tent at Glastonbury for her set at the world famous festival, playing sets at Radio 1’s Big Weekend and TRNSMT and supporting Chappell Roan at her massive outdoor shows in Edinburgh.
