The Glasgow Derby between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox was a relatively tame affair.

Celtic’s draw with Rangers at Ibrox kept Brendan Rodgers’ six-point gap to the Ibrox club intact.

With the game finishing 0-0 with barely an attempt on goal, this is a Glasgow Derby that will not live long in the memory of the Celtic supporters.

However, apart from the time Bojan Miovski tried to buy his penalty against Celtic, there was another incident where Rangers tried to claim another spot kick in the Ibrox draw.

And former SFA referee, Steve Conroy has delivered his verdict on that.

Steve Conroy was asked his views on the both penalties and whilst most of the headlines were surrounding Miovski’s claim, the former referee said the claim against Celtic’s Daizen Maeda was ‘no issue’.

Conroy told The Ref’s View, “Yeah, absolutely. Not an issue. And I was looking, especially the Maeda one, and we discussed it earlier on.

“I was looking and looking and looking. I couldn’t actually see anything that approached a foul. But I can see, he went down in the penalty area.

“The defender was in close proximity. Of course, you’re going to look for it. And if it’s your own team, you’re going to scream blue murder about it.

“But no, nothing approaching a foul. No issue.”

When Celtic next face Rangers in the Scottish Premiership

Now that the transfer window is closed and the international break is in full swing, many Celtic fans are looking forward to the domestic action starting up again.

Celtic’s first fixture is a tricky away trip against Kilmarnock on the 14th of September. However, excluding possible League Cup permutations, when is the next Rangers game?

Well, that won’t be until 2026 where it is pencilled in for Saturday the 3rd of January. With half the season gone at that point, both Celtic and Rangers will know which way the title race is going.

Let’s hope that the gap at the top remains or has even extended by that time as Celtic look to win their fifth title in a row.
