Ryan Reynolds is playing coy about a possible cameo on Marvel‘s Avengers: Doomsday after throwing comic book fans into a frenzy, hinting at Deadpool‘s appearance.

The actor is at TIFF to promote the John Candy documentary he produced with Colin Hanks as director. During an interview, Reynolds talked about the John Candy Easter eggs he put in all three Deadpool films.

Entertainment Weekly took the opportunity to ask if there were any Easter eggs in Avengers: Doomsday and if that would confirm his involvement in the Russo Brothers-directed film.

“There’s four that I’ve got in there,” Reynolds joked. “Of course, I’ve written them all at home in my PJs, and nobody’s seen ’em, nor have I stepped foot on set. But, yeah, that’s about as far as I’ll go on that one.”

Reynolds teased a possible Avengers: Doomsday intervention last month when he shared a post on social media with a graffiti-ed Avengers logo. Many took this image as a tease that Deadpool would make a cameo in the new MCU film.

However, Deadline further reported that the Merc with a Mouth had not been seen on the London set and wasn’t set to appear in the film either.

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026. Anthony Russo and Joe Russo are directing the film with a script written by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely.

The Deadpool character is closely associated with the X-Men, which Avengers: Doomsday will heavily focus on bringing back. Stars Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier/Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), James Marsden (Cyclops) and Channing Tatum (Gambit) are set to reprise their roles.
