This time, it’s not because they’ve come up with some insane policy or decided they want to find another minority group to scapegoat, but because one of their members has decided she’d like to broadcast her midlife crisis live on stage for everyone to see.

Andrea Jenkyns, the former Tory MP who became Reform UK’s first-ever mayor back in May, has serenaded the party’s conference while decked out in a full sequin jumpsuit, proudly emblazoned with a comically large, glittering Union Jack flag.

(Image: Jacob King) She burst onto the stage in full song – which, regrettably, turned out to be of her own penmanship – bizarrely titled Insomnia, which she proudly tells the audience she “co-wrote 20 years ago” while she was in a rock band.

There’s video proof…

*sound on* This is Andrea Jenkyns’s ACTUAL singing entrance to the Reform UK conference.

Utter crackpots. And anyone who thinks this kind of idiotic look-at-me amateurs are how this country will “rediscover its pride” needs to have a lie-down. pic.twitter.com/uI8c1pwTAF

We’ve also handily transcribed the lyrics so you can sing along, too.

I’m an insomniac, I’m an insomniac,

Staring at the ceiling, waiting for my thoughts to switch off,

Yes, I’m an insomniac, I’m an insomniac,

And all I can hear is the sound of that clock,

The sound of that clock,

I’m an insomniac,

Yeah, I’m an insomniac.

She then proceeded to tell the crowd: “Is this god-awful Labour Government giving you sleepless nights and insomnia too?”

(Image: Jacob King) Talk about insomnia – it’s going to be pretty difficult to get a peaceful night’s sleep now that it’s been burned into our eyeballs.

As an amateur opera singer, Jenkyns has form when it comes to embracing her musical side.

When she announced her bid to become Lincolnshire mayor, she launched her campaign with yet another song, which had the lyrics: “There is only one choice / We must unite as one voice”.

Oh, and this is also the same Jenkyns who stuck her middle finger up at people protesting against Boris Johnson outside Westminster.

Following Reform UK feels like, at best, a fever dream, and at worst, an utter nightmare.

We haven’t quite made our minds up yet about which category this falls under.
