Super League will see plenty of NRL talent make the move over to the northern hemisphere, with players such as Jazz Tevaga, Jake Arthur and Charlie Staines already confirming deals for next season.
Now, another Australian is set to swap the Australia for England, as St George Illawarra Dragons winger Corey Allan is reported to join the soon-to-be 14-team competition.
Allan has played NRL first grade for the past seven seasons, making his debut for South Sydney Rabbitohs in 2019. The 27-year-old spent two seasons at the Bunnies, making 29 appearances and scoring 10 tries.
In 2020, he was selected to represent Queensland in the State of Origin, as he was drafted in for a Game III decider. Despite originally being named on the wing, Allan started at fullback as the Maroons defeated New South Wales to take the series victory.
He moved to Canterbury Bulldogs ahead of 2021, and spent two seasons there scoring three tries in 21 appearances.
Moving to the Dragons in 2024, Allan suffered an ACL injury in pre-season ruling him out for the entire campaign. He returned to the field in round nine of this season, and has four tries in 11 games.
NRL winger eyes Super League move following contract expiry
Allan is out of contract with the Dragons at the end of the season, and reports in Australia say they have no plans to renew his deal beyond this season.
ZeroTackle have reported this week that Allan is searching for a move to the northern hemisphere, in a bid to rejuvenate his career.
However, the move would only become an option should no other Sydney-based teams come in for him, with the utility back wanting to stay in his hometown.
Allan would be the second outside back to leave the Dragons ahead of next season, with Mikaele Ravalawa’s move to Castleford Tigers already confirmed.
