Tecno’s slimmest smartphone POVA with blinking cameras

Tecno unveils the dubbed world’s slimmest 3D-curved smartphone, POVA Slim 5G, with a curved screen and a set of animated, ‘blinking’ cameras. Revealed during IFA Showstoppers 2025 in Berlin, which runs between September 5th and 9th, Tecno’s slimmest smartphone POVA comes with two round LED lights enclosing the two spaced-out cameras at the rear of the device. There’s a strip of lighting that connects the two, so when all the lights are turned on, the visuals resemble a rounded face with eyes. Users can animate the mood lighting design of the device.

They can also set different lighting animations for different notifications and give the smartphone varying moods. In this case, the ‘happy’ one only switches on the upper part of the lighting to resemble smiling eyes, while the ‘unhappy’ one turns on just the bottom part to evoke the sad face. Just below the strip of light between the two cameras lies the flash, formed in a soft-rounded shape. The main camera sits at 50 megapixels, and Tecno’s slimmest smartphone POVA features AI processing for the photos. There’s also a FlashSnap technology installed, which captures moving objects, while the Best Moment algorithm picks the clearest shot among the frames taken.

Honeycomb design inside allows for a thinner build

For the dubbed slimmest smartphone POVA, Tecno uses a honeycomb design inside the device. It replicates how bees build their homes, so the components are stacked in small spaces. The company says this allows them to make the device as slim as possible, sized at 5.95 millimeters, and the battery gets more room. The back part of the gadget is made of fiberglass, so it can stay cool even when the phone gets hot. The material also allows for a smooth surface and a more sturdy structure. There’s also a vapor chamber cooling inside the phone, which includes a graphite material. The company says that this material moves the heat away, so gamers who play on the device for a long time don’t feel their gadget heat up in their hands.

Flipping the dubbed slimmest smartphone POVA, Tecno adds a 6.78-inch curved screen with a resolution of 2720 x 1224 pixels and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. The brightness peaks at 4,500 nits, and the screen is made of AMOLED. As for the battery, it holds 5,160 mAh of power and charges at 45W speed. The company adds that even after five years, Tecno’s slimmest smartphone POVA can still keep its power up to 80 percent. The AI system also learns how the users charge their device to help save its health. At the time of publishing, the gadget is on view at the IFA ShowStoppers 2025 in Berlin Messe from September 6th to 9th.
