Spices and Spirits, based in Basingstoke, earned Chef of the Year at the English Curry Awards 2025, held at Eastside Rooms in Birmingham on August 11.
The award was presented to head chef Gaurav Sharma and is being celebrated as a testament to his dedication and creativity.
The restaurant’s management said: “Your enthusiasm and loyalty inspire us to continually elevate our offerings.”
In response to the award, the team has promised to deliver “even more exceptional Indian cuisine that truly exceeds expectations”.

Alongside the win, the restaurant has announced the launch of a new party hall, which can accommodate up to 80 guests.
Designed for birthdays, corporate gatherings, and special occasions, the venue combines an inviting atmosphere with Spices and Spirits’ award-winning cuisine.
The restaurant has also recently undergone an interior transformation, featuring a blend of contemporary design and cultural elements.
A premium wine collection will also be introduced soon, with selections curated to pair with the restaurant’s menu.
Located at 3 Kings Furlong, Spices and Spirits describes itself as “a community hub where flavours, cultures, and memories intertwine.”
It is already widely regarded as a cornerstone of Basingstoke’s dining scene.
The award is expected to further raise the restaurant’s profile and attract new visitors from across the region.
