A new series of the Channel 4 programme started last night (Friday, September 5), which saw the introduction of five new families.
The hit reality series documents different households as they commentate on a range of TV shows from their homes.
These new cast members were:
Friends Jake (27) and Calum (31) from Glasgow
The Gordon family, made up of Andre (49), Sarah (47) and their daughter Chee (25) from Surrey
Married couple Andrew (62) and Alfie (32) from the Cotswolds
Mother and daughter-in-law Sara (87) and Lara (58) from Yorkshire
Sisters Rosie (68) and Susie (70) from Edinburgh
Most established cast members also returned, but one notable exception was Roisin and Joe from Glasgow.
Fans of the programme had mixed reactions to the new additions, taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share their thoughts.
Gogglebox fans slam ‘dreadful’ and ‘irritating’ new families
Plenty of people didn’t hold back in their criticism, as one posted: “Think I’ll give Gogglebox the elbow all the new families are dreadful.”
Another shared: “Read the room @Channel4. We don’t like the new families. They’re irritating & too posh who we can’t relate to actually watching tv”.
A third commented: “Gogglebox used to be my favourite show. Now, sadly, I think that it’s had it’s day”.
Another said: “Don’t think I’ll be tuning in next week, these new people have put me off”.
However, not everyone was so harsh, as plenty were also willing to give the new families a chance.
One shared: “I’m not sure how I feel about all the new people on #gogglebox. I’ll see if they settle in.”
In response, one said: “I get that! Change can be tough, but new faces can bring fresh energy! Lets hope they find their groove soon.”
Another posted: “In general love the new couples. Less air-time for the more established couples/families though.”
One wrote: “I will never not be a tiny bit suspicious of any new families, but give it three weeks and I will stan them”.
Alongside all of this, some fans called for the return of Roisin and Joe, saying they missed their presence.
One said: “Liking the two lads from Glasgow, but still not sure why they got rid of Roisin and Joe.”
