Jack Ashworth looks to have played his last game for Hull FC, with the prop forward set for an independent RFL tribunal and, if found guilty, subsequent suspension – and a hefty one at that.
Ashworth has received a Grade E charge for striking after an incident with Mikey Lewis during Sunday’s 18-4 derby defeat at Craven Park.
The incident went unnoticed by referee Liam Moore. However, replays quickly emerged on Sky Sports with Ashworth seemingly dropping an elbow into Lewis’ face while he lay on the floor after being tackled.
Meanwhile, Grade E charges automatically go straight to an independent Operational Rules Tribunal. If found guilty, they come with a minimum six-match suspension and with 36 penalty points added to the players’ disciplinary records. A fine is normally given as well.
That scenario will rule Ashworth out for the rest of the season regardless of whether Hull make the play-offs or not. The Black and Whites have two games of the regular season to go, hosting Warrington Wolves and Catalans Dragons at the MKM Stadium. But they are set to be without Ashworth for both – with the player signing for Castleford Tigers next season and his potential ban set to continue there.
Elsewhere, there are five other charges for Hull players. Jordan Rapana has two separate charges and has been handed a one-match suspension. The Kiwi’s charges are both Grade B – one for dangerous contact and one for head contact.
Yusuf Aydin has also been banned for one game. The forward has been handed a Grade C dangerous contact charge for his tackle on Rovers full-back Arthur Mourgue. He was sin-binned at the time.
Amir Bourouh has received a Grade A late contact on passer charge. He picks up one point, enough to take him into the threshold for a one-game ban. The same applies to Rapana and Aydin.
Liam Watts has also been charged for a Grade B trip. He has received three points but isn’t in the threshold for a ban and is free to play against Warrington on Saturday evening.
