Mostly dry south & east, still warm

Good morning,

Low pressure centred toward the northwest circulates slowly today. A complex cold front advances northeastwards across Britain, giving heavy and thundery rain for Scotland and northern England.

Torrential downpours with thunder and lightning by the middle of the day into the afternoon are likely to extend from north Pennine areas into Northumberland then the Borders, also scattered storms forming over central Scotland into the Highlands.

Elsewhere, fresh southwesterly winds for Ireland, southern England and Wales, bringing showers. The east and southeast of England is mainly dry. Warm in the east, feeling fresher west.

Heavy rain moves across Ireland into Monday night, then Wales and more widely over England on Tuesday.

Today’s top temperatures up to 28C in eastern England, humid 25C Midlands, also eastern Scotland, fresher 21C in the west and northwest of Britain and across Ireland.

Have a great day.
Garry
