SMRTV has announced changes to the format of the San Marino Song Contest for 2026.
Changes have been announced for the San Marino Song Contest for its second edition. The competition will now be modeled on the Eurovision Song Contest and feature two semi-finals and a Grand Final. For its first edition, the San Marino Song Contest was a standalone final, with Una Voce per San Marino forming the semi-finals of a wider selection process.
In addition to format changes to the Sammarinese selection, SMRTV has also confirmed that the team that will organise San Marinoβs Eurovision participation has changed. Media Evolutionβs CEO, Denny Montesi has been announced as the Head of Delegation, replacing Alessandro Capicchioni, who had held the role since 2008. Valentina Monetta, who represented San Marino in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2017, will also join in a supporting role as an Ambassador for the country.
Gabry Ponte represented San Marino in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with βTutta lβItaliaβ. He brought San Marino to its first appearance in a final since 2021. In the final, San Marino placed 26th, scoring 27 points, including 12 points from the Italian televote.

San Marino debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008 alongside Azerbaijan. Miodio represented San Marino on their debut with the song βCompliceβ, and finished last in their semi-final with just 5 points. San Marino withdrew from the contest before returning again in 2011. Since then, the country has participated annually. San Marino first qualified for the final in 2014 and has gone on to qualify for the final on three further occasions, most recently in 2025.
