The Gathering, a six-part whodunit set in Liverpool, is trending on Netflix.
The series, which first premiered on Channel 4, is currently one of the most-watched TV shows in the UK following its debut on the streamer on 25 August.
According to an official synopsis: “The Gathering centres around a violent attack on a teenage girl during a rave on a tidal islet. Set on Merseyside, the drama focuses on a group of teens from disparate backgrounds, each of whom could have committed the crime, along with their parents, who give equal cause for suspicion.”

Among the line-up, Sadie Soverall and Eva Morgan appear as gymnastics rivals, Jessica and Kelly, the latter of whom is mysteriously attacked. Meanwhile, Vinette Robinson appears as Jessica’s mum, Natalie, and Warren Brown portrays Kelly’s father, Paul. Richard Coyle, Sonny Walker, Dylan Thomas-Smith, Christine Tremarco and Mia Carragher round out the cast.
While The Gathering was cancelled after just one season following low live viewership numbers, the thriller received rave reviews from critics.

“The mostly local cast give naturalistic performances in authentic Scouse accents, led by Morgan, who graduated from drama school only a year ago but is a real find,” wrote The Telegraph.
Meanwhile, The i Paper called the show a “gripping condemnation of toxic parenting”, adding: “The Gathering could have easily ended up over-stuffed and confusing. But writer Helen Walsh … kept the narrative plates spinning with ease and pulled off the difficult task of making us care about the characters as much as we did about the central crime.”

However, penning a mixed response to the show, The Observer declared: “The plotting is wayward, and the denouement feels forced. What’s impressive is the socio-emotional interplay between the young cast, the sense of real, raw lives being lived.”
All episodes of The Gathering are now available to stream on Netflix.
