The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed a list of 178 medical conditions that make you eligible to claim Personal Independence Payment (PIP). The most recent government data, published last week, shows there are currently 3,744,671 PIP claims in the UK as of April 2025.
Those who qualify could be entitled to a regular support payment of up to £110 per week. This benefit is designed to provide additional assistance with daily living tasks.
Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is a disability benefit offered to individuals with long-term physical or mental health conditions, disabilities, or learning difficulties. It’s particularly useful for people of State Pension age who wish to maintain their independence at home.

These payments are not means-tested and are tax-free. During the 2025/26 financial year, recipients will receive either £73.90 or £110.40 each week, depending on the level of support needed. For money-saving tips, sign up to our Money newsletter here
Payments are typically made every four weeks, meaning eligible claimants will receive either £295.60 or £441.60 per pay period, reports the Express.
This follows a rise in PIP rates, along with other benefits, by 1.7% in April in line with inflation, aimed at helping households cope with increasing living costs.
These are the new weekly rates, but it’s crucial to remember that PIP is paid every four weeks.
If you are eligible for both the enhanced daily living and enhanced mobility components of the payments, you will receive a total of £749.80 every four weeks.
If you’re eligible for both the standard daily living and standard mobility components, you’ll receive £412.40 every four weeks.
Here’s a comprehensive list of 178 medical conditions that had active PIP claims associated with them, along with the number of claims for each condition. The data, released last week, shows the number of PIP claims as of April 2025.
