Hideki Matsuyama takes a narrow one-shot lead into Saturday’s third round of the BMW PGA.

Matsuyama fired a stunning 64 in the second round to vault to 12-under par and he assumes a one-shot lead over European Ryder Cup trio Viktor Hovland, Ludvig Aberg and Justin Rose.

Spain’s Pablo Larrazabal rounds out the top five a further shot off the pace on 10-under par.

Former winner Alex Noren and England’s Aaron Rai are also in contention at 9-under par.

Further down the board, it’s so far been a week to forget for tournament favourites Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy and 4-under and 3-under par resperctively.

Both players will need to shoot lights out on moving day if they have any interest in winning the coveted title at Wentworth on Sunday.

Three players all around the cut mark (Fabrizio Zanotti, Ricardo Gouveia and Yannik Paul) will return at 7am on Saturday to finish off their second round.

Tee times for the third round will then be made available as soon as that three-ball has finished the 18th hole.

The DP World Tour has confirmed to GolfMagic that Saturday’s third round of the BMW PGA will be a one tee start in three-balls, and will not start before 8am.
